Shades of Hyderabad: Our Visual Ode to the City of Nizams

In a nod to the enchantment of Hyderabad; a place full of history and one which has co-mingled with life in the 21st century without breaking character, Shades of Earth unveils a visual journey to mark our debut in the City of Nizams. Set against the backdrop of the historic old city and the dynamic IT hubs, where tradition gracefully intertwines with modernity, it's a celebration of Hyderabad's laid back charm which is echoed in its people and culture.

In many ways, Shades of Earth mirrors the essence of Hyderabad. Our style, much like the city's demeanour, exudes a laid back feel through organic natural materials, vibrant colours, and an energy that resonates with those who wear our creations.

Biryani, Banter, and Beyond: Sid's Take on Hyderabad

One could say that in Hyderabad the past dances gracefully with the present and every nook and cranny has a story to tell. Life here isn’t just about the historic monuments and the finger-licking biryanis; it is about the people, their language, their lives and the vibe which makes Hyderabad unique even amongst all the diversity in India.

The contradiction in Hyderabad lies in the hustle bustle which is strongly laced with an innate lethargy and laidback aura. The people are hurrying but their manner is relaxed. There is no ‘getting things done yesterday’, for a Hyderabadi, instead it’s that ambiguous parson (tomorrow) which could actually be tomorrow or an Indeterminate

The food in Hyderabad is sublime. Although India boasts of many varieties of biryani, the word immediately conjures up the minarets of the Charminar and it’s as if the city has a monopoly on the spicy, saffron-laced rice layered over meat and browned onions. Of course, mention the vegetarian biryani option and you are likely to get admonished with a, “There’s no veg biryani, that’s just a pulao!”

And one cannot discuss Hyderabad without mentioning the lingo. Try deciphering the Dakhani dialect spoken here without either breaking into a big grin or trying to figure what was actually said- were you asked a question or were you told something? Major head scratch moments ensue and regularly till you figure out that you don’t have to be a baingan to be eating one!

In my lifetime, I've never witnessed the city undergoing as much excavation for development as it appears to be in the last few years. Amidst the progress and urbanisation, the city's evolution underscores the critical importance of sustainability. As the narrative of change weaves through the fabric of Hyderabad, it becomes evident that mindful development that treads lightly on the environment is indispensable in shaping its future.

As Shades of Earth, our commitment to sustainability is more than a mere reflection—it's a conscious choice embedded in every thread. The fusion of old and new in Hyderabad serves as a reminder that progress need not compromise the environment
